The 1.44 aircraft is a single-seat, twin-engine experimental aircraft, a pre-prototype of a heavy air superiority fighter. Design work was carried out in the 1990s, and the first flight took place in 2000. The project was abandoned in favor of the PAK FA aircraft. The radio-electronic equipment includes a weapons control system, a navigation complex and an integrated aerodynamic surface and powerplant control system. The basis of the weapon control system was to be a multi-functional 5th generation impulse-Doppler radar with a phase-scanning antenna N-O14. This station allows you to attack 20 targets at the same time. The system is supplemented by an optoelectronic target detection and tracking station integrated with the helmet-mounted target pointing system. The cabin is equipped similarly to the MiG-29SMT. Ultimately, it was supposed to include the so-called bio-adaptive visualization system. Thanks to it, the pilot can interactively, without weakening the control of the combat situation, choose the amount and method of presentation of information necessary to perform the task. They are displayed using multi-functional electronic displays. The condition of the pilot is constantly assessed by the KS£ system, which warns about the possibility of being in a dangerous range for the body, e.g. about excessive overload. The system also automatically returns the aircraft to a safe range of flight in the event of the pilot becoming unconscious. The integrated, digital active control system KSU-1-42 was developed by the Awionika company. It controls not only the position of the control surfaces, but also the moving nozzles of the engines. The navigation complex includes an inertial and satellite system, as well as a short-range radio-technical navigation and landing system. The armament was to be deployed in the internal compartments of the fuselage and on the under-wing knots. It was planned to use all the basic types of weapons used at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries on Russian fighter planes, as well as newly designed intelligent bombs and missiles.
